LPG to China



China's LPG imports are expected to increase in 2024 and 2025, and the country's demand for LPG has been resilient despite economic headwinds: 


  • Imports

    In 2024, China's LPG imports are expected to increase by 8% to around 35 million metric tons (MMt), and by 6% to 37 MMt in 2025. 

  • Demand

    China's LPG demand has surpassed market expectations, with imports in the first eight months of 2024 up nearly 10% year-on-year. 

  • Origin

    China's primary suppliers of LPG include the United Arab Emirates, United States, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. 

  • PDH plants

    Six new PDH plants with a combined capacity of 4.2 million metric tons per annum (MPTA) have started up in 2024.
